Most heavy duty trucks on the US market were pretty much the same with a few differences but nothing too major. However, Ford decided that it might be the time for them to break from the crowd with the all new 2016 Ford Super Duty Truck which has been launched a few days ago in Texas and it is expected to go on sale by the end of 2016. While most of its competitors are running on the same chassis as they did nearly 10 years ago, the new Super Duty is the first to get a redesigned chassis as well as the revolutionary aluminum body which Ford also installed on the smaller F-150.
2016 Ford Super Duty Truck Price
The bigger trucks such as the F-250 and 350 now come with an identical cab to that on the F-150 which should allow Ford to offer the trucks at a cheaper price. In fact, many people suspect that the all new model will start at $30,000 and it will go to as far as $70,000 on the high end luxury models.
The all new truck is only 350 pounds lighter than the previous model which may not seem like all that much considering it is rocking the all aluminum body. However, Ford beefed up the front and rear axles, it gave the trucks a much stronger chassis and on top of that, both the stock brakes and differentials are a lot more potent than before.
2016 Ford Super Duty Truck Engine
In terms of engines on the other hand, the Super Duty series will be offered with the same engines as before, with a few more to come at a later date. The base models will get either a 6.2 liter naturally aspirated V8 with 385 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque or a 6.8 liter V10 with 362 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque. Both of these are likely going to be offered with a new 10 speed automatic rather than the old 6 speed unit which was quite slow to respond. As an option, Ford will continue to offer the great 6.7 liter PowerStroke turbocharged diesel which will still offer 440 horsepower but it will likely get a small bump to around 880 lb-ft of torque in order to compete with the new Cumming Ram trucks.
2016 Ford Super Duty Truck Exterior And Interior
The exterior design changed dramatically so the new 2016 Ford Super Duty Truck now looks a bit more imposing with a new grille, all new LED headlights as well as a slimmer profile thanks to the F-150 cab which is narrower than before.
Inside the cabin, things are also quite a bit better so the truck will be offered with an optional Sync 3 system, ventilated and heated seats as well as a 360 degree view camera system.
