The redesigned version of the MKZ has been first launched on the market back in 2013 and since them it managed to make quite a nice impression to its buyers, especially thanks to the fact it manages to offer one of the best rides in its class. The drawback is that it is now really the most fun to drive car on the market and its price is usually quite high when compared to price of some of its European and Asian competitors. The newest model of the car, the 2016 Lincoln MKZ, has already been released on the US market as a small update to the previous version.
2016 Lincoln MKZ Price
Unfortunately, it is not the upgrade everyone was expecting and it doesn’t really offer anything new on the market. This is also the main reason why sales have been declining for the past few years. The 2016 model has been priced at $36,000 while a top of the range model will set you back nearly $50,000. While it is not all that much for a luxury sedan, it is a lot for a car which drives worse than a Fusion. The good part is that the comfort offered inside the cabin is above the average and even though it can’t offer the driver much feedback, the car does feel secure on the road.
2016 Lincoln MKZ Engine
Under its hood, there are three available engines, one of which is a hybrid. The base model is a 2 liter EcoBoost inline 4, capable of 240 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque which is the exact same engine found in the Fusion. The top of the range model comes with a much better powertrain, a 3.7 liter naturally aspirated V6 with 300 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. Front and all wheel drive are available and both of them come as standard with a 6 speed automatic.
The hybrid is a bit more different. This combines a 2 liter Atkinson cycle engine with an electric motor and a CVT gearbox. The total output is 188 horsepower and little over 200 lb-ft of torque which is sufficient for a cruising car. This is also the most fuel efficient of the bunch with a rated average of 40 MPG.
2016 Lincoln MKZ Exterior and Interior
Both the interior and the exterior of the 2016 Lincoln MKZ remained unchanged since 2013 which is a shame because most of its competitors received partial or full updates this year. The only real update for the new 2016 Lincoln MKZ is that it will receive Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system in the next couple of months which should be a really nice upgrade over the old unit.
